Urban Knitting Zaragoza

The girls from Urban Kinitting Zaragoza made their third yarn bombing action on december 22nd. They opened the posibility for people from all Spain to participate in their action. You just had to knit or crochet a 40x40 cm red square. I didn´t know what they were up to but I knew I had to help!. So I made my square and send it to them.

Enhorabuena chicas!

The result was amazing!!!. I´m sure it was a lot of work. And installing it must have been very hard (with freezing cold!). It´s a shame it didin´t last very long. But anyhow, I´m sure they are already planing their next action to make the "world" a cosier and colorful place...I just hope I can help again! :)
Congratulations girls!

Hallacas!

Do you remember that I told you about the hallacas in my first xmas post?. Well, we decided, last minute, to make our fisrt hallacas and it was amazing!. The preparation took 3 days, the first one for buying all the ingredients, second day for preparing the filling and the third to put it all togeher, cook them...and eat the fisrt hallaca!. We could not have done it without the help of our friends, Francis, Pilar and Ramón (and Olga´s tips!). Summing up: 3 days, 5 people, 28 ingredients, 36 delicious hallacas, 17 marvelous bollos and a happy happy xmas eve! :)

Of course, couldn´t resist making a crocheted hallaca! ;)

Feliz Navidad! / Merry Christmas!

This is how my xmas plan turned out: I finished the tree (and I like it a lot!). I decorated it with some old ornaments and with a few new pompoms and I finished the 7 hexagons I needed for under the tree. And the star for the top I think it looks very cute!.

I just could finished crocheting Mary and Joseph from the nativity pattern. Next year I´ll try to start planning my xmas earlier so I can finish it!

Well, I could finish everything I wanted to crochet but still I´m pretty happy with the things I did manage to make, I loved my first crochet-xmas and I hope I´ll add a few things each year!

FELIZ NAVIDAD!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I´m little behind on my crochet-xmas decoration plan, but there are still 5 days to Christmas!. I managed to finish the tree (I still have to weave in ends). I made a lot of changes to the pattern since I didn´t like it so tight and I did it in 2 colors (green and white) so it would look "snowy". It has 21 bands and it´s 50cm tall.

I´m not doing so well with the tree decorations. I only have one (out of five) tips of the star and 8 half-way pompoms. I suppose I would used some of my old decorations. And the hexagons are for under the tree (I don´t know what is the name in english for that). I have 2 hexagons finished, 3 half-way and I guess I need at least two more.

I blame this delay on this Nativity pattern. I´m not that into nativitys but who could resisit an amigurumi one????. So I decided that this year I would work only in Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus and next year I´ll finish the wise man and the animals. Here you can see Mary finished and Joseph on its way. I probably finish baby Jesus on xmas eve!

Seguiremos informando...

This is how my xmas is looking so far...I’ve been working in a lot of projects at the same time, I’ve some good and fast results with some of them others are going a bit slower. I concentrated in making first Diego’s presents, Turtle and (another) Dinosaur (you can never have too many dinosaurs) and I think they turned out pretty nice (they are already on their way to sunny Florida). The gnome is easy and quick to crochet and they look so cute!, I think I´ll make more. On the other hand, I didn´t like the santa that much. The tree is going slower. The pattern comes for 3 sizes so I started with the small one and turn out ok, but I don’t think I’ll keep it as it is. Now I’m working on the big one and making some pattern-modifications as I go, at the end I think the small one is going to become part of the big one. Of course I’ve been looking to other people xmas projects and I want to make them all!!!, specially this amigurumi ornaments from All About Ami they are simply too cute!!! (I confess I’m already working in one but for some reason I choose weird colors…)

I´ll keep updated!

PS: I´ll post later about the Dinosaur and the turtle

Madejas en bolas! / Skeins into balls!

I´ve learn to convert skeins into balls!!!!. Up until now it was a very hard work and always ended up with a lot of knots. But yesterday I saw some videos y finally got it!. This and this videos were very helpful.

I just put the skein in the back of a chair and in about 15 minutes I have my ball!

Good luck Lupe doesn´t pay a lot of atention to them...not sure I could say the same if I had a cat ;)

Pina

Preciosa película!!!!, documental, teatro, danza...BELLEZA! (y el 3D es espectacular)
Una película para Pina  Bausch dirigida por Wim Wenders.

Gorgeous movie!!!...documentary, theater, dance....BEAUTY! ( and the 3D is amazing).
PINA is a film for Pina Bausch by Wim Wenders.

One of my favorites moments of the film (music by Simón Díaz):

Sinopsis / Synopsis:

PINA is a feature-length dance film in 3D with the ensemble of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, featuring the unique and inspiring art of the great German choreographer, who died in the summer of 2009.

He takes the audience on a sensual, visually stunning journey of discovery into a new dimension: straight onto the stage with the legendary Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch ensemble, he follows the dancers out of the theatre into the city and the surrounding areas of Wuppertal - the place, which for 35 years was the home and centre for Pina Bausch's creativity.

dance, dance, otherwise we are lost!

I’ve always loved Christmas decorations, which is pretty strange since I come from a family of "Scrooge people" (and on top off it I married The Grinch!). As a kid it was always me who put the x-mas tree in our home and of course now I do the same thing. But this time, the year I discovered crochet, I can not imagine me putting up my cheap-mini-x-mas tree with the ornaments I “stole” from my mother....IT HAS TO BE  a crochet-x-mas. So I plan to start doing today (December 1st) my own crocheted tree plus its ornaments. I already have the patterns* …so the goal is to finish them for Christmas eve.
(* you can find the links to the patterns at the end of the post).

Thousands and thousands of years ago I did some cross stitch  x-mas ornaments... I think they are not that bad... I'm still very fond of them ... especially the 3D angels, they are so cute. I've always wanted to make more (I remember that they are fairly easy to make and  I still have the pattern somewhere…). But not this year…this Christmas is all about CROCHET!

The next picture is a “pan de jamón” (ham bread). In Venezuela we eat a lot of this during Christmas time and also “hallacas”. But for the past 8 years we’ve been living in Spain so I had to learn to make it at home. They are pretty easy actually using precooked pastry I just have to add ham, raisins and olives and in the oven it goes!. Not the same for “hallacas”, they are very hard work, in involves cooking for 2 o 3 days and all the family works on it…so I just buy a few for the two of us. And here some venezuelan christmas music: ex1, ex2, ex3.

As you can see, this year I decorated my blog before I did my home, what do you think?

I´ll keep you posted on my x-mas work!..if you want to recomend me some other xmas patterns they´re welcome!
