¡Disfruta tu plaza! / Enjoy your square!

Our neighbourhood´s community center organized a bunch of activities in the square close to our home to rpomote the use of it, since it has become just a transit spot intead of place for us neighbors to enjoy, share, and get to know each other.

And among those activities there was some crochet+yarn bombing!. We were very excited when they invited us to organized this activity. We did some teaching in the morning and some yarn bombing by the end of the day.

Our idea was to cover some benches as a way of highlighting them, so that we remembered they are there to be used!

People could participate in many ways: if you knew how to crochet you could teach, if you didn’t knew how you learned. If you had little time you could bring your granny squares from home and we gave you some yarn. If you could spend the whole day with use you could join squares and cover the benches. Thanks to our sponsor (Katia) we had a lot of yarn in many fun colors!

Once again we experienced the great energy that comes from doing collective actions. That amazing feeling of being able to do greater things, bigger things, more colorful, more beautiful when we all work as one.
Esperamos que se repita

Hope we can repeat again soon.

Motivo Wayú en Creatextil / Wayú Motif at Creatextil

When Lala from Indigo Estudio Textil invited us to make a yarn installation at the Museo del Traje (Costume Museum) entrance we were thrilled and start working right away. We wanted to make something different from our normal yarn bombings, something that at the same time contrasted and matched the Museum´s front entrance transforming it into fabric. We used the stairs as a grid to create a “fabric” inspired in the colors and geometric patterns of Wayú´s people weaving (ethnic group of the La Guajira Peninsula in northern Colombia and northwest Venezuela).

It was almost a mission impossible but we did it!. With almost no time we jumped on our knitting machine and knitted over 144 rectangles for the Creatextil sessions (lectures, guided visits to textile and fashion museum collections, get-together, textile market and ETN General Assembly).

To install it took more than six hours and lots of laughs…thanks to the help of our friends Fur, Francis and Miguelito…without them it would have been impossible

On Saturday afternoon we made a short lecture about our activity as yarn bombers and how it allows us to explore different topics.
