Mochi rebelde / Rebel mochi

When I saw some friends knitting mochimochi dolls I fell in love with them. When I touched them I was head over feet. I think knitted dolls are much more soft and “huggable” than amigurumis. Don´t get me wrong I love amigurumis but I wanted to try with knitted toys. The problem was… I get sooo bored with knitting needles I couldn´t bring myself to make one.

So I decided I was going to give it a try using a round loom, that way I´ll get the same texture without touching the needles!...and I think it worked! Or at least I think it looks cute and huggable. It has another trick: all the limbs are crochet. I can help it! I absolutely LOVE crochet! ;)

So is kind of a “platypus mochimochi”, “hybrid mochichi” or “rebel mochimochi” whatever you wish to call it…but I think it does the trick! ;)

I see a pair of these bugs in my nephews future…. ;)

How a make it:
(can´t call it a mochimochi pattern…but it works)

Yarn: “red heart super saver” (both of them, purple and multicoulored)
Eyes: 12mm safety eyes.

40 rounds in knit stitch using 5-1/2 inch. knifty knitter round loom.

For ears and legs I used the ones in THIS pattern
The arms are just magic ring+6 sc, increase to 12 sc and then 5 rounds keeping it in 12 sts. (all with a 4mm hook).

INSTAGRAM con sorpresa! / with surprise!

Since I saw this “Instagram purse” on Pinterest  I knew I had to make it for Francis’s birthday

The bag itself is quite easy to do (pattern at the end of the post), I decided to make it using tunisian crochet since I was looking for a strong and regular finish. The lens is regular crochet and the rest of the details are in felt.

But what I am most proud of is the lining!. It is the first time in my life that I sew a zipper,  I don´t know if it is technically ok but at least it opens and closes smoothly!. Also, I sewed the lining in the sewing machine without  fighting with it!

I think crochet it´s powerful stuff!...so I decided to try to cure Francis´s cockroach phobia by making her an amigurumi one! (yes, I´m evil, I know!). So inside the purse she found this cute little “pet” (pattern HERE)

After she yelled a little she was able to pose for the pictures…. ;)

On video: Conejo verde / Green Rabbit

While I have both hands on the hook  Alvaro has one on the hook and the other one on the camera. That´s how we record what we bomb. Sometimes with photos, sometimes in video, sometimes both. This is the first video…I hope there will be more to come… or at least that's the plan... Hope you like it;)

PS: should we please the man with the suitcase and cover the whole street?

Un año después... / A year later...

¡GRACIAS!

A year ago I made my first yarn bombing. And I thought the best way to celebrate it was repeating the same action but this time with help. Because of these bollards I have met wonderful people and some of them knitted and woke up very early today (and freezed!)  this morning to celebrate with me this year so full of wool, colours and surprises.THANKS!

Soraya

El año pasado forramos 18 bolardos. Este año 37. La calle entera tiene 420. ¿Cuántos aniversarios me tomará llenarla? :P

Last year we covered 18 bollards. This year 37. The whole street has 420. How many anniversaries will it take me to cover them alll ? Who's up for next year? Should we start knitting/crocheting today? : P

They lasted just a few hours. The city cleaning service took them away. It´s ok...I´ll just keep on knitting/crocheting...we are used to frogging and starting all over again, right!?
