11*11*11

He leído un poquito sobre esto del 11.11.11. Científicamente no tiene nada de especial. Lo más probable es que no ocurra nada especial (ni bueno ni malo). Pero hay  gente que está convencida en que si es un día especial. Están llamando a meditaciones globales que produzcan una reacción en cadena de armonía y positivismo. Me parece genial, incluso es probable que me una a esta meditación. Pero he visto otro enfoque ligeramente distinto con el que he conectado un poco más: llaman a hacer algo que te haga sonreír o que te haga sentir en paz. Sea el día que sea, creo que si un montón de gente es feliz al mismo tiempo algo bueno tiene que pasar. Después de una semana intensa, en la que he conectado con un montón de gente nueva, durante la cual creo que he hecho sonreír a más de uno, este 11.11.11 me pilla especialmente contenta, con ganas de hacer cosas bonitas y llenísima de muchísima gratitud. Haré caso a ese llamado y sonreiré todo el día, haciendo cosas sencillas que me hagan feliz. Para empezar aqui les dejo este pequeño bordado!. Se feliz!♥

(y si por cosas de la vida o de la probabilidad, tienes un mal día, respira profundo y ten paciencia, ya pasará!)

I’ve been reading a little bit about this 11.11.11 business. Scientifically there is nothing special. Chances are that nothing special will happen (good or bad). But some people are convinced that it is a special day. They're calling for global meditations that will start a chain reaction of harmony and positivity. It sounds good for me. I probably will join this meditation. But I read another approach that I’d like even more: they are calling for people to do what they enjoy the most, to do whatever makes them smile, to do whatever makes them feel at peace. Whatever the date is I think that if a bunch of people is happy at the same time something good has to happen. After an intense week, in which I’ve connected with a lot of new people and made some people smile, this 11.11.11 catches me particularly happy, wanting to make a lot of pretty things and full of gratitude. So I will listen to this call and smile all day long making simple things that make me happy. For a start this little embroidery!. Be happy ♥

(And if due to bad luck or simple probability, you have a bad day, breath deep and be patient it will pass!)

Actualización (Nov.14):

Lo dicho, fue un día normal, no pasó nada extraordinario...sin embargo si logré hacer un par de cositas sencillas y que nos hicieron sonreir en casa: una montaña de galletas de chocolate chip que quedaron espectaculares y este broche de mariquita sicodélica ( ¿¿¿o parece más bien una cucaracha???). El broche queda clasificado como prototipo, necesita más trabajo y la receta de las galletas se las recomiendo!!!..siganla al pie de la letra! El ingrediente secreto es la sal marina!!!. AQUI la receta.

Update (Nov.14):
As  I said it was a normal day...but I did manage to do a couple of simple things that made us smile at home: a mountain of chocolate chip cookies and this ladybug amigurumi pin (or is it more like a cute cockroach???). The pin definitely needs more work but the cookies recipe is just perfect!!!! I highly recomend it!. Secret ingredient: sea salt!. You can find it HERE.

ACTUALIZACIÓN/UPDATE (Nov.8):
Son las 21:58 y todavía hay 16 (de 18). El conejo verde ha respondido a nuestro llamado diciendo que ha sido adoptado por una familia y que será muy feliz (lean la nota que dejó en el cartel!). :)
It´s 9:58 pm and there are still 16 (out of 18). The green rabbit answer our call saying he has been adopted by a good family and that he will be happy...we sure hope so! ;)

ACTUALIZACIÓN (Nov.14):

Una semana después quedan 8 (de los 18 originales). De verdad que no pensaba que iban a durar tanto. Ahora me doy cuenta que nunca escribí un post como tal. Estaba demasiado emocionada. Cuando los estábamos instalando estaba realmente asustada y nerviosa. Y al terminar y ver que la gente comenzaba a detenerse un momento, a verlos y sonreír, incluso se tomaban un momento para sacar el móvil y hacerles una foto me emocioné tanto que no pude escribir. Luego vino lo de la desaparición del conejo verde, el cartel, la respuesta de su nuev@ dueñ@ y quedé fascinada por la interacción. Además, conocí a un montón de gente y de blogs nuevos. Ha sido una experiencia realmente enriquecedora. Y estoy loca por repetirla!. Al terminar de instalarlos lo primero que hice fue comprar mas lanas. Ya estoy trabando en el próximo (y el próximo y el próximo, todo al mismo tiempo!)…creo que será un poco mas discreto…ya les iré contando…De nuevo GRACIAS a todos los que me han escrito pero sobretodo GRACIAS a todos los que han sonreido! ;)

Y por supuesto GRACIAS a ♥Alvaro♥, sin su apoyo y ayuda nunca me hubiese atrevido, no sólo para instalarlos sino desde que esta loca idea se plantó en mi cabeza. Ha aguantado que tejiera viendo pelis, que pasara findes enteros tejiendo, que me apoderara del sofá con todas mis lanas, que la casa esté llena de restos de lana, que hable, hable y hable de lanas y puntos a cada rato. Y no nada mas ha aguantado sino que ahora hasta quiere aprender ganchillo!!!  Es lo máximo!!!!♥♥♥

UPDATE (Nov. 14):

A week later there are 8 (out of 18) left. I really didn´t think they would last that long. Now I realize I never wrote an actual post about it. I was too excited to write. When we were installing them I was really scared and nervous and when we finished I saw people stoping for a moment to smile, to take a picture I was sooo happy, jumping up-and-down from the excitement. Then came the disappearance of the green rabbit, the “come back” poster, the response of his new owner  and was fascinated by the interaction. Also, I met a lot of new people and new blogs. It has been a truly enriching experience. And I'm dying to do it again!. The first thing I did when we finish installing them was buy some more yarn!. I´m already working on the next one (and the next one, and the next one after that, all at the same time!)…I think the next one is a little more discret…i´ll report back!.

THANKS again to all of you that have taken the time to write me a comment. But most of all a big THANK YOU to all of you that have smile! ;)

And of course, a giant THANK YOU to ♥Alvaro♥, without his help and support I would never done this. He has been so suportive ever since this crazy idea landed on my head. He has put up with me crocheting while we watch movies, crocheting all weekend long, taking over the coach with all my yarn, with little pieces of yarn all over the house. With me talking, talking and talking non-stop about yarns and stitches. And now he even wants to learn to crochet!!!!! He is the best!!!!♥♥♥

Regalos/Gifts (IV): Culebrita/ Snake

En el mismo momento en que leí el post de Lucy (Attic24) "Sssss" supe que quería hacer una serpiente así. Tenía la excusa perfecta: en un par de meses vendría mi sobrino a visitarme. Creo que la empecé ese mismo día. Busqué un patrón para tener algo de referencia  (pero ahora no lo encuentro!). De nuevo utilicé la lana gorda acrílica (la misma del dinosaurio) y un ganchillo de 5mm (H-8). Para la cabeza y la cola compré el verde y de resto fuí utilizando los colores que tenía en casa combinándolos lo mejor que pude (estoy muy muy lejos de lograr la maestría en color que tiene Lucy). 

As I read Lucy´s post (Attic24) “Ssss” I knew I had to make this snake. And I had the perfect excuse: in a couple of months my nephew was coming to visit us. I think I started it that same day. I looked for a pattern to have some reference (I can´t find it right now). Again I used the same acrylic chunky yarn  and a 5mm (H-8) hook. For the head and tail I bought the green yarn and for the body I used the yarn I had home trying to combine them the best I could (I´m very,very, very far away from Lucy´s color skills).

En el camino me debo haber distraído un par de veces (o más de dos) y a veces  metía más puntos y la serpiente engordaba...me daba cuenta cuando ya llevaba unas cuantas vueltas asi que decidía no deshacer sino simplemente reducir hasta el tamaño inicial...asi pues obtuve "una serpiente boa que digería un elefante", como la de El Principito (ya se habrán dado cuanta que la perfección NO es lo mio).

On the way I got distracted a few times and ended up adding some stitches and the snake got fatter. Instead of undoing I just kept on crocheting and just decrease those new stitches…so at the end I got a "boa constrictor digesting an elephant" like the one in "The Little Prince" (by now you should know that perfection is NOT my thing!).

Al final quedó casi de mi tamaño, es decir, mide unos 1,60m!!!!. Alvaro me ayudó a dibujar la caja donde la envolvimos con carteles de "peligro!", "bicho peligroso" y cosas por el estilo. A Diego le encantó, tanto la serpiente como la caja!!!...como a todos los niños la caja le dió horas de diversión!

 It turned out to be about my height (1.60m!). Alvaro helped me decorate the box in which we wrapped it with signs like “Danger!” or “Wild thing”. Diego loved the snake and the box, of course, like all children he had hours of simple fun with the box!

Regalos/Gifts (III): (Furry) Godzilla!

En realidad es un T-Rex...pero me gusta más llamarlo Godzilla y lo hice para mi  sobrino Diego. El patrón lo pueden encontrar en FreeAmigurumiPatterns. Como casi siempre, me quedó más grande de lo estipulado en el patrón...porque siempre me antojo de usar lanas gordas y un ganchillo #5. Y cambié un poco los colores que sugería el patrón. Otra cosa: el patrón dice "double croceht" pero yo lo hice en "single crochet".

It really is a T-Rex but I prefer to called it Furry Godzilla and I made it for my nephew Diego. You can find the pattern in FreeAmigurumiPattern. Like always it ended up much bigger because I (as always)  used a chunky (acrylic) yarn and a 5mm hook. I also changed a bit the colors from the pattern. And one last thing: although the pattern says to use "double crochet" I used "single crochet" (maybe it refers at the brtish term...?)

Es un poco laborioso por todas las piezas que tiene (14!) pero queda muy bonito...y por supuesto cuando Diego decretó que de ahora en adelante este era su "dinosaurio favorito" se me olvidó  todo el trabajo y tuve que controlarme para no correr a hacerle 20 más!

It took me some time to finished it, because it has a lot of pieces (14!) but it is really cute...and of course once Diego said : "this is my favorite dinosuar now!" I had to control myself not to go and make 20 more for him!

Regalos/Gifts (II): Bolsos redondos/Round Bags!

La segunda parte de los regalos de cumple para mi mamá y hermana fueron estos bolsos redondos. La verdad es que primero hice este morado para mí, fue el primer bolso que hice (antes del blanco). No seguí ningún patrón, simplemente fui haciendo vueltas en redondo(**) en puntos bajos usando una lana gorda y un ganchillo #5. La tira que une las dos caras redondas tiene de ancho  7 p.b y el largo que quieras para dejar espacio suficiente para meter las cosas en el bolso. Luego las tiras que agarran las asas tienen unos 20 p.b de ancho (la puedes hacer en cualquier lugar de la tapa redonda) y las mias tienen 2 vueltas en p.b+1 vuelta en p.m.a+2 vueltas p.a.+1 vuelta p.m.a+2 vueltas p.b.
...o algo parecido... creo que se pueden hacer todas las modificaciones que el hilo, el tamaño o tu imaginación te pidan...

Part II of the gifts were this round bags. Actually I first did the purple one for me (even before that the white tote bag). I didn´t follow any pattern I just kept making circle rounds (**) using single crochet with a chunky acrylic yarn and a #5 hook. The strap that´s in the middle of the the two circles it´s 7s.c. wide and whatever length you need. Then the smaller straps for the handles are about 20 s.c wide (you can crochet them anywhere in the circle) and 2 rds. s.c+1 rd. h.d.c+2 rds. d.c+1 rd. h.d.c+2 rds. s.c

or something like that...I think you can make all the modifications your yarn, size or imagination ask for.

 Quedamos (Lupe y yo) bastante contentas con el mio así que me lancé a hacer los regalos. Lo único que no me convencía del morado era la lana que utilicé, asi que para los regalos me decidí por un algodón acrílico gordito (de nuevo de El Gato Negro) y un ganchillo #4 y además en lugar  de hacer puntos bajo hice puntos altos y la verdad me gustó más el acabado (aunque a Alvaro le gusta más el original). El negro/beige fue para mi mamá. El azul/balnco para mi hermana.

We were (Lupe&me) quite happy with my purple round bag except for the yarn. So for the gifts I used the same cotton like acrylic worsted weight  that I used in the white tote bag and a #4 hook. And also, instead of making single crochet rounds I did them in double crochet. I like them better this way although Alvaro likes better the purple one. The beige/black was for mom. Blue/white for sis.
