Un búho a la semana 5 / An owl a week 5

Aqui #5: con los nudos por fuera y los colores a trozos...como me he sentido esta semana...pero aún asi con ganas de tejer...y espero que (llegado el momento) también de entretejer...

Here is #5: with the knots on the outside and the colors into little pieces...just like I felt this week...but always in the mood for some crocheting...

Un búho a la semana 4 / An owl a week 4

casi se me va la semana sin el búho...justo a tiempo aqui está #4!!!
Lo bueno de repetir un mismo patrón una y otra vez es que me permite ir jugando con diferentes elementos, probando cosas...como la nariz en punto de cruz de este...además quedó bastante mas pequeñito que los otros (una lanita mas delgada y un ganchillo de 2.75mm en lugar de 4 o 3.5mm).

I like repeting a pattern over and over again...it gets to a point were I start experimenting and trying different things...like this nose in cross-stitch. This little guy is a bit smaller than the others since I made it with a thinner yarn and a smaller hook (2.75mm).

Flower power

El domingo 14 en Venezuela tendremos unas elecciones muy muy importantes. O mejor dicho una oportunidad muy muy importante. Estas elecciones se convocaron hace apenas un mes. Tengo todo en regla y listo para ir a votar el domingo. ¿Qué más podía hacer durante este mes para calmar la ansiedad que tejer? ¿Había alguna manera de poner mi granito de arena para estimular aunque fuese a una persona a que vaya a votar? Me propuse un ejercicio: una flor al día hasta el 14 de abril. Y asi lo he hecho. Día a día he publicado la flor del día en mi facebook. Van 30…de aquí al domingo haré 5 más y las regalaré entre la gente que vaya a votar.

Next Sunday 14th we´ll have a very important election in Venezuela. O better jet a very important opportunity. I have everything ready to vote on Sunday. I wanted to stimulate at least one person to vote. So I start to crochet…what else could I do to ease my anxiety? I set myself a goal: a flower a day. And that´s what I´ve been doing for the past month. Crochet a flower, publish it on facebook, start again. I have 30 flowers and I´ll crochet 5 more until Sunday. Then I´ll give them away among the people voting.

A finales de la semana pasada, cuando ya acumulaba una buena montañita de flores le dije a Alvaro: ¿y si hacemos un pequeño video con las flores?. Pasamos la mayor parte del fin de semana en ello y asi hicimos esta piecita, con mucho cariño, con mucha paciencia, punto a punto, a veces deshaciendo y volviendo a tejer. Como haremos con el país. Last week as I stare at my “flower montain” I asked Alvaro: what if we make a small video with them?. And that´s what we spend our weekend doing. With love, with patience, stitch by stitch, sometimes frogging and crocheting again. Just like we´ll do with our country. All together.

Gorro y monstruo / Beanie and monster

Me gusta hacer amigurumis (puros o híbridos). A veces clásicos (búhos, cerditas, dinosaurios) otra veces freestyle (como el Monstersaurus o Wilfred). Esta vez no fue un amigurumi propiamente dicho  porque no está hecho con ganchillo si no con el telar circular.  Se parece bastante al “mochi rebelde”.

I love making amigurumis (pure or hybrid). Sometimes classic amigurumis (like owls, pigs or dinosaurs) and sometimes some freestyle amigurumis (like Monstersaurus or Wilfred). This time it wasn’t a true amigurumi since I made with the loom instead of the crochet hook. It looks more like my “Rebel mochi”.

Lo hice para Marquitos y la idea fue hacerle un gorro a él y aparte un muñeco, todo con el mismo telar y los mismos colores.

I did ir for Marquitos´birthday and my plan was to knit a beanie for him plus a plushie, all with the same loom and colors.

En el proceso Alvaro me convenció de ponerle bigotes al muñeco…así que terminé haciéndole unos bigotes a Marquitos también (patrónbigote aquí).

While I was knitting it Alvaro convinced me to make a moustache for the plushie…so I did…and of course I had to make other moustache for Marquitos (pattern here).

Todo fue un poco improvisado y divertido pero aún asi creo que quedó simpático! ;)

It was a fun,quick, improvised project…and it turned out cute and funny! ;)

Pues eso. Sólo quería contarles que tengo 1000 "me gusta" en el facebook...puede sonar un poco tonto...pero la verdad es que paso tantas horas por alli que me hizo ilusión...asi que hice este bordadito para

I just wanted to share that my facebook page just reached "1000 likes"...I know it might sound silly...but I spend so many hours in there that reaching that number made smile...so I did this little cross-stitch to thank you! ;)
