Gorro y monstruo / Beanie and monster

Me gusta hacer amigurumis (puros o híbridos). A veces clásicos (búhos, cerditas, dinosaurios) otra veces freestyle (como el Monstersaurus o Wilfred). Esta vez no fue un amigurumi propiamente dicho  porque no está hecho con ganchillo si no con el telar circular.  Se parece bastante al “mochi rebelde”.

I love making amigurumis (pure or hybrid). Sometimes classic amigurumis (like owls, pigs or dinosaurs) and sometimes some freestyle amigurumis (like Monstersaurus or Wilfred). This time it wasn’t a true amigurumi since I made with the loom instead of the crochet hook. It looks more like my “Rebel mochi”.

Lo hice para Marquitos y la idea fue hacerle un gorro a él y aparte un muñeco, todo con el mismo telar y los mismos colores.

I did ir for Marquitos´birthday and my plan was to knit a beanie for him plus a plushie, all with the same loom and colors.

En el proceso Alvaro me convenció de ponerle bigotes al muñeco…así que terminé haciéndole unos bigotes a Marquitos también (patrónbigote aquí).

While I was knitting it Alvaro convinced me to make a moustache for the plushie…so I did…and of course I had to make other moustache for Marquitos (pattern here).

Todo fue un poco improvisado y divertido pero aún asi creo que quedó simpático! ;)

It was a fun,quick, improvised project…and it turned out cute and funny! ;)

Mochi rebelde / Rebel mochi

Cuando vi los mochimochi que estaban haciendo unas amigas me enamoré. Cuando los toqué caí rendida a sus pies. Los muñecos tejidos en punto me parecen mucho mas suaves, mas abrazables, mas achuchables que los amigurumis. Me encantan los amigurumis pero quería probar con los mochimochi. El problema: ¡me aburren supremamente las 2 agujas!...y ni que decir si son mas de dos como en caso de estos bichejos.

When I saw some friends knitting mochimochi dolls I fell in love with them. When I touched them I was head over feet. I think knitted dolls are much more soft and “huggable” than amigurumis. Don´t get me wrong I love amigurumis but I wanted to try with knitted toys. The problem was… I get sooo bored with knitting needles I couldn´t bring myself to make one.

Decidí que lo iba  hacer usando los telares circulares, así obtendría la misma textura del punto sin tener que darle a las agujas…¡y creo que funcionó!...por lo menos yo lo veo bonito y achuchable…Tiene otra trampa…las extremidades son de ganchillo…no lo puedo evitar…¡soy ganchillera a muerte! (o como diríamos en Venezuela, “la cabra tira pa´l monte…jejeje)

So I decided I was going to give it a try using a round loom, that way I´ll get the same texture without touching the needles!...and I think it worked! Or at least I think it looks cute and huggable. It has another trick: all the limbs are crochet. I can help it! I absolutely LOVE crochet! ;)

 Asi pues les presento esta especie de “mochimochi ornitorrinco” o “mochimochi híbrido” o “mochimochi rebelde” como prefieran…me ha gustado mucho hacerlo y el resultado también…

So is kind of a “platypus mochimochi”, “hybrid mochichi” or “rebel mochimochi” whatever you wish to call it…but I think it does the trick! ;)

Veo en el futuro navideño de mis sobrinos un par de estos bichejos…. ;)

Como lo hice:

Los hilos son “Red heart super saver”, tanto el multicolor como el morado.

Los ojitos son safety eyes de 12mm

40 vueltas en “knit stitch” (¿unto derecho?)  en el “knifty knitter round loom” de 5-1/2 pulgadas (osea el telar pequeño de ESTE kit)

Para las orejitas y patitas seguí los de ESTE patrón

Los bracitos me los inventé…pero creo que simplemente hice una vuelta de 6 pb, aumenté a 12 pb y luego unas 5 vueltas manteniendo. Todo con ganchillo de 4mm.

How a make it:

(can´t call it a mochimochi pattern…but it works)

Yarn: “red heart super saver” (both of them, purple and multicoulored)

Eyes: 12mm safety eyes.

40 rounds in knit stitch using 5-1/2 inch. knifty knitter round loom.

For ears and legs I used the ones in THIS pattern

The arms are just magic ring+6 sc, increase to 12 sc and then 5 rounds keeping it in 12 sts. (all with a 4mm hook).

Freestyle Monstersaurus

En febero hice este ami-montruo para el cumple de mi sobrino (el grande, jejeje a partir  de julio tendré que decir el grande o el pequeño).

On february I made this ami-monter for my "big" nephew´s birthday (I´m just getting use to say "big nephew" or "baby nephew" ).

Lo hice con las lanas gordas acrílicas (las que me gusta usar para los muñecos grandes, como el T-Rex o la serpiente). De hecho la azul es de una bufanda que me decidí a deshacer (era de punto y la hice hace un par de años y no me gustaba nadita..asi que pensé que este era un mejor uso). Utilicé un ganchillo de 5mm.

I used thick acrilyc yarn (the same I used for the T-Rex and the snake). The blue one was actually a scarf I knitted a couple of years ago that I never really likes, so I decided this was a better use for it. I used a 5mm hook.

No les puedo dar un patrón como tal porque lo fui haciendo al ojo, pero es bastante sencillo creo que con las fotos se puede entender lo que hice.

I can´t give you a pattern because I improvised as I crocheted it but I think with the pictures you can figure it out pretty easily.

Creo que a Diego le gustó (¿¿¿o pensará que su tia es muy rara y regala juguetes raros...????). En un comienzo le iba a hacer un spiderman de amigurumi pero Alvaro me convenció que de que ya tenía suficientes spidermans de todos los tamaños y materiales y que era mejor para su imaginación tener un montruo único.

I think Diego liked it (or maybe I´m the weired aunt who gives him wiered toys???). I first thought of making him an amigurumi spiderman but Alvaro convince me that he already had enough spidermans (all sizes and materials) and that it was better for his imagination to have a unique freestyle monster.

De paso le hicimos una sesión fotográfica muy chula junto a mi primer amigurumi "El mexicanito"....divierténdonos un poco con los muñecos...para eso son, no? ;)

We also had a little fun with it before we shipped it to sunny Florida we took some funny pictures posing with my first amigurumi "The mexican".
