ARTcycle 2015: Grannyman starts again

Hace unos meses nos invitaron a participar en la tercera exposición ARTcycle (Florida, EEUU). La idea de la exhibición es crear consciencia para una mejor convivencia de los coches y las bicis en las calles (Miami tiene una población ciclista bastante grande y lamentablemente son frecuentes los accidentes).

A few months ago we were invited to participate in ARTcycle´s third edition (Florida, USA). ARTcycle is an art event to raise awareness for riders and drivers promoting wellness and safer streets through an active lifestyle while supporting the arts. ARTcycle bikes as well as bike-related art are exhibited to promote awareness for bike safety.

Decidimos hacer un video (para ver el TRAILER PINCHA AQUI) para la expo porque nos permitía "jugar" con todo los que nos gusta: tejer, construir marionetas, hacer un poco de stopmotion, grabar un poco de imagen real...y tejer un poco más!.

We decided to make a video (watch TRAILER HERE) because it allow us to have fun doing what we like: crochet a little, build puppets, a bit of stopmotion animation, shoot some real image footage and crochet a little more!.

Por suerte contamos con la ayuda de unos (profesionales) amigos: Alberto, Thiago, Raúl, Rubén. Sin ellos hubiese sido imposible crear esta pieza.  Además mi cuñado Sebastián compuso la música para el video y quedó buenisima! ¡Mil gracias a todos por la confianza y el apoyo incondicional!

We were very lucky to have the support, help and love of some profesionals/friends: Alberto, Thiago, Raúl, Rubén. Without them it would have been imposible to make this piece. And also it was so great to work with my (little) brother in law Sebastián who created the (amazing) original score for the video. Big, big THANK YOU to all of you!

La exposición se inaugura hoy 6 de marzo y estará hasta el 24 de mayo en el Coral Gables Museum (Miami, Fl), si les pilla cerca los invito a que se acerquen ;)

The exhibit starts today March 6 until May, 24 at the Coral Gables Museum, please check it out if you happen to be in Miami.

PD: Como verán hemos creado una especie de super heroe lanero llamado "Grannyman"...que nos ha detonado muchas ideas y ganas de inventarle muchas aventuras...seguiremos informando...

PS: as you can see we created a sort of superheroe called "Grannyman" and now we can´t stop thinking about his next adventures...we will keep you posted!

Miami Yarn

Hace ya más de un mes que Alvaro y yo hicimos esta acción en Miami (ya les había hecho un pequeño preview). Fue algo pequeño y rápido pero muy emotivo y emocionante. Lo hicimos en familia, con mis sobrinos y además sirvió para reencontramos con amigos que teníamos muchísimo tiempo sin ver.

We did this yarn bomb in Miami over a month ago (remember this small preview?). It was small and simple but very emotional and exciting. We did it with family, my nephews and friends we had not seen in a long time.

Al parecer en EEUU hasta los bolardos son más grandes porque sin exagerar tienen el doble de tamaño que los de Lavapiés. Cuando Hubert nos envió las medidas pensaba que se había equivocado…pero no…¡son maxi-bolardos!

Apparently in the U.S. even bollards are X-large, they are twice the size the ones back home. When Hubert sent us the measurements I thought he got it all wrong, but no…they are maxi-bollards!

Los hicimos en el avión hacia Miami, mientras jugábamos en la playa con Diego y mientras Sebastián dormía plácidamente en mis piernas.

We made it on the plane to Miami, while playing on the beach with Diego and while Sebastian was sleeping peacefully on my lap.

  

Al parecer duraron poquisimo…a la mañana siguiente ya no estaban…

Apparently it lasted very little ... the next morning they were gone ...
