Cojín para mecedora / Cushion for rocking chair

This summer I crocheted this cushion for my baby-nephew´s room. Both sides are different: one is striped and the other one has a pinwheel made out of granny squares (PATTERN HERE).

I really liked this pattern…I´m planing on crocheting a big (yarn) bag using it

The yarn I used is one of my favorite: Katia´s 100% Merino Extrafine. It´s soo soft and I think I crocheted a lot faster with it. I think I pais about 5 euros for each 50g ball. Since I crochet so loosly I worked with a 3.5mm hook.

Looking at the pictures a few months later I´m thinking maybe it would have been better to make a bigger edge…but I was in such a hurry I couldn´t make it…

Well…tah-dah!...here is how it looks like on the rocking chair!...hope you like it! ;)

...this reminds me that I have already crocheted the granny squares for my sofa´s cushion and I hadn´t put it together yet...ups...

Recuerditos / Souvenirs

My nephew Sebastian is about to turn 6 months old. I made this little bags as a souvenir for his birth. So you can imagine how delayed I´m with my blog posts. It was a little frustrating because they didn’t have a happy ending. I sent them very late (about 2 weeks before due-date), I wrote the wrong address on the package and the baby decided to come a couple of days early. So they didn’t make it on time. Let’s say that “it's the thought that counts”. Anyway I think my sister managed to give them away to family and friends.

As you can see they were cute-simple-little bags that contained 2 or 3 snack-size chocolates (“Torontos” to be exact, a typical venezuelan chocolate). I made them in different colors with a worsted weight acrylic yarn and a 4mm hook.

(this makes me remember that I used to collect this kind of souvenirs when I was little: my dad was an ObGyn, so every time he delivered a baby the patient gave him one of this…they were usually a ceramic-doll and chocolate covered almonds. He kept the almonds and gave me the doll. I ended up with a shelf full of this dolls. I never thought I would end up doing a few.)

Well the fact is that now I just finished souvenirs for his christening. This time I made flowers and stars with a ribbon so that my sister will add a keychain to it. Use a similar yarn and again a 4mm hook. They are all different combinations of colors. There are no two alike. (star pattern HERE, I just crocheted the first 2 rounds).

I just finished them and ran to the post office. Of course, again I´m running late. The baptism is in 8 days but they assure me the package will be there on Tuesday…I hope is true…I´ll keep you posted…

If I continue like this...you can expect my christmas post by the summer...

Between holidays and crocheting gifts I haven´t been around the blog much. For 2013 I´ll try to spend less time in facebook and more over here. I promise I´ll try!.

Here this short post about this jellyfish family I crocheted for a baby´s room. It´s the same pattern I used HERE. I used a 3.5mm hook and a 85%acrylic/15%wool yarn (Lanas Stop-Oxford). When a pattern works for me I tend to keep on crocheting it ;)

HAPPY 2013!... I hope it brings you lots of creativity! ;) (and yarn, and trips, and beautiful surprises, and exotic food, and colors, and...anything you want!)
