Ganchillando a Caracas y vuelta / Crocheting my way to Caracas and back

My mom had a domestic accident, nothing serious but yet uncomrftable. So I´m on my to Caracas to take care/spoil her for a few days. So, let´s look to the glass half full: isn´t a serouis injury and I´ll be spending a lot of time at home soooo...I can crochet a lot!...my suitcase has mora yarn than clothes.

Me voy corriendo al aereopuerto!

Stay tune if you want to know how I crochet from the other side of the ocean...and maybe I´ll even make my first yarn bomb at my home town...anyone want to help???

UPDATE mar.18:

On time, my loyal friend "jet lag" it´s sitting with me in the couch...listening to the birds...at least this time we are having fun updating the blog..and crocheting!!!....here are some pics from my crocheting in the plane yesterday (almost 10 hours!!=...I thought I was going to do more...

UPDATE mar.19:

I´ve been eating a lot of venezuelan goodies and enjoying the people that has come to visit us...sooo...I´ve crocheted very little...you think all that the yarn is going to stay at the bottom of the suitcase?

And also I´m hooked to Isabel Allende´s last book...another reason I´vebeen away from the hook! ;)

UPDATE mar.21:

I´ve been crocheting a little bit more...but I´m still hooked to the book...I´m still eating forgotten goodies...I still have jetlag...the sky is still full of clouds...and I haven´t seen EL Avila from our window yet...

UPDATE mar.24:

Little...I´ve crocheted very little...let´s see how the weekend turns out...this grannys squares look ioke chocolate, don´t they? ;)

UPDATE MAR.26:
...y sigo ganchillando muy poquitito...y comiendo mucho! ;)
...still crocheting very little...and eating a lot! ;)

UPDATE mar.29:

I´m back home!...most yarn didn´t make it out of the suitcase in the whole trip...on my way back I only crocheted this 4 flowers...and before that, in the airport, I had an "arepa+melon juice" goodbye! ... ;)...I´m not quite sure this travel+crochet thing works...but I´ll keep trying! ;)

I´ve said it before: this this bollard-covering-thing is adictive and contangious. We went very early today to support our friend Ali on her first yarn bomb!

They were all sooo cute!. Ali made them with soooo much care!

Enhorabuena flor!!! que vengan muchas más! ;)

As always, the best part was watching the people getting surprised and smiling...but this time Ali´s smile was even bigger than the other smiles....as she bend down to put them and thought about her next hit! ;)

es unA OSA!!! / it´s a she-bear!

Did you know that the bear, symbol of the city of Madrid, it´s a female? I learned that while crocheting with a group of friends. So since today it´s Women´s Day we decided to put her a nice crochet skirt.

One of the girls crawled up to the bear and tied the skirt made out of little crochet-pieces we all made for the last couple months in our friday´s afternon mettings (and also a scarf and a hat!) while the rest made a net around and shout names of famous women.

There are owls everywhere!!!...everday pinterest show me owls made out of paper, fabric, yarn or painted owls in hundreds of colors...sooo...it was just a matter of time for me to surrender to this owl-obsession. This pattern is pretty easy...it takes me about half an hour to crochet an owl...sooo...I think a lot of my friends are going to get owl-presents!...I´m even thinking about decorating my next christmas tree with owls!! ;)

And since this was such a short post I´ll show this easy peasy head band. I diid with Katia Austral yarn (50% merino/50% acrylic) with a 3.25mm hook. I diid a 16 st. chain and then back loop single crochet until it had the length I needed to go around my head, stitch ends together and done!. Comfortable and easy! ;)

You can sew a pin on the back and used as a brooch. For the eyes you can use bottons or amigurumi safety eyes.

It´s a Brachiosaurus!!!

This pics were hidding from since xmas! it´s an amigurumi turtle and an amigurumi dinosaur I made for my nephew Diego!...sooo...before I show you the monster I just did for his birthday I prsent to you this 2 bugs:

I made the turtle with the acrylic yarn "Planet" I´ve been using for everything lately. The pattern is a mix: I made 2 hexagons for the top and the bottom of the shell, the front slippers from this pattern and the rest of the pieces from this one. I think it turned out cute eventhough the eyes are a little too big...

For the dinosaur I used a yarn 75% acrylic/25% wool (Katia´s Marathon Print, 2.5 euros/50g) and a 3.25mm hook.
I used this pattern which turned out to be quite easy and fast to crochet! I surely recommend it!

We "gave" him the present by skype...we saw how he torn the wrapping paper, gave a quick look to the turtle and then  with shinny eyes and the dinosaur in his hands screamed: "IT´S A BRACHIOSAURUS!"...the result: a totally happy aunt ready to make him some more amigurumis!!!! ;)
