Josefina/Josephine

(English in Grey)

A short post to recomend you this pattern, es very easy and quick to crochet and the result is really really cute: it´s a tiny whale that I named "Josephine" because it reminded of japanese cartoon I used to watch when I was little...do you know Josephine?

I introduced Josephine to Lupe hoping they would become friends...not happening! ;)

Mira al pajarito! / Look at the birdie!

(English in Grey)

This are my birdies. This was the first "shape pattern" I tried. It is really easy and quick to crochet. With the first one I used the wrong hook size so it has littles holes and you can see the stuffing. But it was my first one and I couldn´t undo it...we all have our flaws and we still are adoreble, right? ;)
Pattern here (I highly recomend you register in Lion Brand, it´s a great website with tons of freen patterns!)
(me gusta!).

After that I made purple and turquoise, they are chubby!. They live in Alvaro´s studio and he calls them "Minah" for the ones in A. Huxley´s "Island", whose sole function is to loudly screech out "Here and now! Here and now!" at random intervals. I promise him there will be 3 Minahs...I´m working in #3!

I couldn´t stop there and I started making little ones with different hook sizes. My idea was to make something like Attic24 "twig project" but after a few birdies it didn´t seem like a good idea...I think part of the problem is the yarn...it´s so dark!. The idea was that each dark one would had a color-partner like the green couple...but...I don´t know...what do you think? should I continue? maybe put them in a little nest?...sugestions please!
PS: Lupe doesn´t like any kind og birds...not even amigurumis!

Mi primer amigurumi / My first Amigurumi

(English in grey)

As I told you in my first post, my first crochet attempt was using this magazine and ended up frustrated and with a bunch of non-squares.

Some time after that a friend told me about amigurumis and I decided to give it one more try and manage to make 6 little balls using this pattern and the help of some videos (I recomend "The knit witch" videos)

After six little balls I thought I was ready to try for a big one…I had a lot of tension problems and ended up with a pear-shape ball…I stare at it for several days and decided he will become “Panzón”: an adorable 6 legged cyclope with belt.
And we have been adding some accessories for the past months.

Do you have pictures of your first amigurumi?

Porqué un blog? / Why blog?

(scroll down for english)

Nunca vi a mis abuelas o a mi madre haciendo punto o crochet.

The first word that comes to my mind is SHARE and the second one is SMILE. Almost a year ago I tried to learn to crochet subscribing to a magazine. I never saw my grandmother or my mother knitting or crochet. I´m very bad with crafts and any two year old draws better than me. So I found the instructions harder than quantum physics and forgot about the hook. A few months later, when my frustration had worn of  I tried again, this time looking for videos, patterns, and blogs on the internet and found a world full of patience, colors, people who is happy sharing what they know, what they discover, a world that works at a different and slower pace, full of handmade things and warmth.

Bienvenidos! Pasen, vean, sonrían, compartan, comenten, pero sobretodo keep it simple y sigan sonriendo! ;)

Not only have I learned the basics stitches, but also try out  some recipestuned the eye to admire the simple things and now I have over 20 blogs I check almost daily in a folder named "Cute living". So after I managed to finish some amigurumis and a couple of bags I realized that the process did not finish when I fasten off but that I needed to share the results. So here I´ll show you the little things I crochet, the little things I discover, the little things I like and surely a whole lot of Lupe (our chihuahua that is the cutest little thing in the house!). Hoping to get a smile out of you, and, dreaming big, hoping to motivate some of you to do something good and nice that would make someone else smile.

Wellcome!, Come on in, read, smile, share, comment, but most important of all keep it simple and keep smiling! ;)
